City Rail Handled Heat Day Properly

My arrival at Mount Druitt train station the platform to Sydney city was 4 rows deep standing. The young Station assistant made a courteous announcement explaining that the 6.12am to city train was 20 minutes late. I then spoke to a male combined bus and train commuter and he advised me that although the announcements were polite and explaining due to signals failure at St Marys, he thought it was due to train drivers not turning up to work maybe due to heat exhaustion.

The announcements were coming through every five or so minutes and I did notice the arrive of the next city was extended to 20-25 minutes. The train did finally arrive but altogether there was normally 3 trains all up, that go to city that we should have received at out platform by about 6.40pm. It was quite alright on the train - no heated debates or mumbles or grumbles about it! Things happen - well done to City Rail - keeping commuters calm.
