A Mount Druitt commuter who knows the 'ins' and 'out' of the Taxi problems around Mount Druitt provide an update as what the drivers want around Mount Druitt.
One issue is, all taxis on the stand facing the East of North Parade have a potential danger of rock missiles been thrown from the top of the walkway hotting and damaging taxis. It seems it falls on deaf ears so far! We will look at improvements for this!
Second issue is, that once the tax stand is fully lined up, normally the taxis will wait on the opposite side of North Parade facing West beside the external lifts and steps from the Mount Druitt train station. But they can;t as it is a drop off point for passenger vehicles,allowing commuters to catch the trains.
Lastly, the Mount Druitt Interchange is too small! Instead of having the Woolworth's petrol Station where it is - extend the Bus interchange to that side of North Parade, allowing access for taxis to loop around the interchange - away for the dangerous walkway - giving the opportunity to commuter to take their choice of commuting transport to get them to their destination.
Some information for the commuters of Mount Druitt, taxi fares are normally based on a simple mathematical rule of calculation. It is four times the amount of a bus fare based on a direct straight route from Point A to Point B
What we as commuters don't realise when we catch taxis is - that some drivers have to collect a fee from the fares before they actually keep their earnings.The information provided by a communityn member from a taxi driver is approximately $148 per day (currently). Then he can earn his own living from there on - sometimes they don't earn over this amount and have to pay from their pocket!
