We had Our First Transport Forum - Summary

Yes, we had our Transport Forum last Saturday and to me it was a success because we haven't had it before!

There was approximately 30-40 community members that attended and when you look at the people they speak too on a day-to-day basis (say 10 people each), then the news spreads so fast - cheapest form of advertising free!

Although we had apologies from Richard Amery, Member for Mount Druitt, Allan Shearan, Member for Londonderry, Caroline Fraser, Christian Democrats Candidate for Londonderry.
Three candidates attended the Transport Forum:  Dave Vincent, Christian Democrats Candidate for Mount Druitt, Deb Robertson, Greens Candidate for Mount Druitt. This means a response turn up of 33 percent of candidates from both electorates. This means there are only three candidates that care of transport in and around Mount Druitt.

Candidates provided speeches for 3 minutes on their policies on transport.

The candidates faced questions that were directed at improving transport, bus services running empty, bus services that are required on weekends and nights, security measures, free bus service is what candidates requested for Mount Druitt, extra train  service announced on the Western Line, completion of the North-West Link.

One good note that came out of this was that even the president of the local Labor Party, Peter Chapman agreed with the Liberal candidate for Londonderry, Bart Bassett - that community consultation with the MDCIG - to  discuss the 'Priority List' and then he will take this up with the Transport Minister and see if these can be done to resolve.

We will add a blog of the minutes of the Transport Forum prepared by our Secretary soon.
