Hassall Grove Commuter Asks Are We Spending Enough Funds On Service And Maintenance Of Trains?

Ron from Hassall Grove catches public transport 4 days a week to reach UWS Rydalmere. He catches the Busways 754 to Mount Druitt and the City Rail train to Parramatta and then buses to Rydalmere from Parramatta.

His  bus is time tabled to come at 9.40am and arrived yesterday at 9.51am. He has issues with timing of trans and buses but understands how buses can be delayed especially, when  bus drivers may have to deal with multiple pram commuters or time wasting commuters with larges notes to pay.

He is up to date with train services technology and knew that trains today were delayed by 40 minutes, with a mechanical failure in Central Station. In fact, we had to transfer trains at Blacktown to reach Parramatta and we both understood.

He claims it is a complex issue to resolve yet we are doing better like other countries then  New Zealand etc. Yet would still like to see better 'on' time tabled services to provide better comfort whilst travelling.

He was wondering how much effort/cost does NSW Government/ City Rail place as an emphasis on  rail maintenance as maybe more funding maybe required to be direct in this area to prevent further delayed events. Is there also a lack of funding for maintenance and service of these transport vehicles?
